The mission of the Social Equity Investment Project (SEIP) is to identify and support leadership in the community to facilitate sustainable and effective social change.

The SEIP would like to move beyond the challenging and transforming crossroads of a demographically changing population by recognizing commonality and a shared vision for an equitable and sustainable community for future generations.

We are looking for people from the entire community to get involved in leadership development, volunteering (your time, expertise and knowledge), financial development, community discussion groups, leverage influence and connect with networks.  We currently have up and running a Social Equity Advisory Committee, composed of an inclusive representative leadership from the greater Burlington community.

Kesha & Zach

Sustainable Communities are Equitable Communities

If we want to build sustainable communities they must be equitable communities. Sustainable communities are those that are long lasting and use resources (including people's talents and energy) wisely.

We can only accomplish our goals by involving community members who are leaders in the community and come from different backgrounds and possess different talents. You probably know someone from your neighborhood who would make a good leader (it could be you), and we need their involvement.

We All Want the Same Things...

A job that pays the bills and gives us economic stability, an education that gives us and our children a chance to succeed, a home we can afford, an opportunity to engage in making our neighborhood and our city a better place to live...these are the things that we all want.

As our community grows and adds members from many different backgrounds, we need to embrace the underutilized resources of all our City’s residents, including our newest residents.

Our diversity is our strength when we work together toward a common goal.

We all contribute, and take pride in looking back to valued traditions, and forward to shaping a shared and preferred future.

The SEIP was created to help all Burlington communities thoughtfully understand cultural differences and necessary effective community building while moving beyond the transformational crossroads toward our shared vision.”
