Sustainable
Communities
are Equitable Communities
If
we want to build sustainable communities they must be equitable
communities. Sustainable communities are those that are long lasting
and use resources (including people's talents and energy) wisely.
We
can only accomplish our goals by involving community members who are
leaders in the community and come from different backgrounds and
possess different talents. You probably know someone from your
neighborhood who would make a good leader (it could be you), and we
need their involvement.
We All Want the Same
Things...
A job that pays the
bills and gives
us economic stability, an education that gives us and our children a
chance to succeed, a home we can afford, an opportunity to engage in
making our neighborhood and our city a better place to live...these
are the things that we all want.
As our community grows and adds
members from many different backgrounds, we need to embrace the
underutilized resources of all our City’s residents, including our
newest residents.
